It’s time to lace up your skates and prepare for the ultimate clash of ice and ambition. Netflix’s highly anticipated adaptation of Hannah Grace’s sports romance novel icebreaker Production has officially begun.
I’m a long-time skating fan, so I’m excited that Netflix is expanding its figure skating repertoire and entering the world of ice hockey. How well did we see? fierce competition and off campus Now that the book has been accepted, I’d like to see how Hannah Grace’s book has been transformed.
The cast announced on social media that they have begun filming the series in British Columbia. The group looked very excited as they brought one of BookTok’s most anticipated hits to the screen. It’s the gym every actor and character needs to stay in shape for elite hockey and figure skating sessions.
What is Icebreaker about?
icebreaker It is the first novel in Hannah Grace’s Maple Hill series, set at the fictional Maple Hill College. It mainly follows ice hockey, but there is also figure skating.
icebreaker It follows competitive figure skater Anastasia “Stash” Allen and college hockey captain Nate Hawkins as they pursue gold medals. When the team is forced to share a link, things get heated as they soon become obsessed with hitting on each other and wanting each other. Who doesn’t love the metaphor between enemies and lovers? It will be fun to watch the ice melt as they practice their moves.
Daisy Jelly and Connor Simos star as Anastasia “Stassie” Allen and Nate Hawkins. Although both are relatively new, Icebreakers should be the perfect series to introduce them. Sometimes it’s better to cast new actors to help them start their careers, and I think these two would be perfect. The two already showed off their chemistry during the casting announcement, and it appears they have already become close friends.
ICEbreaker fans, meet Anastasia “Stassi” Allen and Nate Hawkins.

The rest of the cast includes Gabriel Tierney as Aaron, Auli’i Cravalho as Lola, Chanel Kular as JJ, Craig as Henry, and Aiden Shaw as Russ. Decorated athlete Peter Berry enters the lobby. He plays an assistant hockey coach and Nate’s best friend, and appears in a wheelchair, just like in real life. I love this inclusion.
Grace, the author of the book series, is involved in this adaptation, so avid book fans can rest assured that the original work will be respected and the characters will grow accordingly. The project features winner Alex Cooper’s Unwell Productions, along with Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre. Showrunner Amanda Lasher (Gossip Girl, bold font) created the series, and Jade Halley Bartlett co-wrote the pilot script, bringing the global bestseller’s signature dynamic to the screen.
An official premiere date is not yet known, and production will last until winter. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
