2026 Nightmare Film Festival The screening began on the second day. Benjamin Busnell’s Film with a good grip, Tahua’s Curse. What is it Tahua’s Curse? It’s a supernatural thriller. Whenever a seasoned horror fan sees phrases like “paranormal thriller” or “psychological thriller,” a feeling of frustration tends to course through their brain. Why do you insist on calling this movie a thriller? Can’t we just call it a horror movie? In most cases, this is a valid question. First of all, it’s not here.
Tahua’s Curse At first it was more of a thriller. It also has a supernatural twist that I won’t give away here. Rest assured. This is a suspenseful piece of genre mash-up filmmaking and one that kept Nightmares audiences captivated throughout its running time.
Next came the features front. John Valley’s american dollhouse. Valley’s previous work Pizzagate MassacreWe actually played Nightmares during the COVID-era digital edition of the 2020 festival. masquerade. The festival is proud to see filmmakers returning with their next projects, and it was a treat to see what Valley has up his sleeve this time around. Chad Collins from Dread reviewed the movie It was excluded from the Overlook Film Festival last April. Like Chad, I worked really hard american dollhouse And it is a psychodrama based on the Kreger vibe of the late 70s.

Jen Wechsler’s Becky’s Last Temptation – Third (and final?) installment Becky Trilogy – Continued. if you are a fan Becky and Becky’s AngerYou’re going to have a lot of fun with this product when it’s officially released a few weeks from now. I’ll get to think more deeply about the movie later in a proper review, but it was definitely fun to see Becky destroy racists on the big screen.
A distinctive aspect of the night, which ended with a raucous horror comedy. Liv’s last trip. If you have ever asked yourself, “What would happen if I crossed over?” bridesmaid Cabin-in-the-woods horror movie?”, then Liv’s last trip Here is the answer. Thaddeus Armstrong’s The kitchen sink horror prank was a hit with the NFF crowd, Please know and doll houseThis is something to keep an eye on next year.
Friday’s block of shorts wasn’t all that impressive to the Nightmares crowd. The first topic of the day is the main topic of NFF: “a recurring nightmare“. Every year the festival programs several special blocks of shorts dedicated to films by NFF alumni. All of the shorts blocks are expertly curated, but Recurring Nightmares is a special treat for attendees each year, as it allows us to see returning filmmakers continue to hone their craft year after year. Of course, there were additional blocks on Fridays for equally exciting horror and thriller shorts. I left with a recommended list of shorts at the end of the night. I can’t wait to see when they come streaming.
