Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård freely create a wicker world

Film by writers and directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson ring Those who have seen it, and especially those who have worked on it, have described it as a timeless work of art. In an interview with Fandango, star Olivia Colman said the film’s design elements and overall look “added some sparkle to what I envisioned.” Alexander Skarsgård went on to call the piece a “fable” and added, “Because it was not set in a specific time or place, creative freedom was given to all departments.”

There was also freedom in character development. When it came to playing the perfect wicker husband, Skarsgård said, “How scary it was to not have a backstory.” But having a “pure and innocent” or even “pure and sweet” persona actually allowed me to fill the void. “There’s a lot of depth and sadness in the script,” but audiences still needed to be intrigued by the comedy.

And then there’s makeup. According to Skarsgård, the lashes were the final step in his two-hour transformation, but they were worth it to give him the best, most authentic performance possible.
