Star Wars replaced Ahsoka and now we have a main character problem.

Disney and Lucasfilm replaced Ahsoka Tano. star warsand now Ahsoka The show has a major protagonist problem. Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano may be the show’s eponymous character, but she Ahsoka. From new major villains like Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati to returning heroes like Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger; star wars The show is too epic in scale to have a single protagonist.

Ahsoka‘s large cast has actually been a selling point of the series since its inception. Ahsoka It was initially billed as a direct follow-up to the ending. star wars rebelsThe first season lived up to the hype. It was also marketed as the beginning of the Mandoverse’s biggest and most important overall story, and thanks to the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, it delivered on that promise as well.

But it’s coming soon Ahsoka In season 2, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on January 20, the main characters have a problem. in other words, Ahsoka I don’t know who the main character is. Despite the show being named after her, Ahsoka Tano’s replacement as the series’ main character creates many issues that desperately need to be addressed in the upcoming second season.

Ahsoka Tano is not the protagonist of Ahsoka.

Although the show is named after her, Ahsoka Tano is hardly a main character. Ahsoka. Sabine Wren is actually the main character of the film. Ahsoka It’s season 1, but it’s so much more than that. Ezra Bridger, Baylan Skoll, Shin Hati, and even Grand Admiral Thrawn get much more attention and focus. Ahsoka The script for Season 1 is more so than Ahsoka. Ahsoka was basically a supporting character in her own show and only had two half-developed stories to her name.

Half of Ahsoka’s personal story Ahsoka Season 1 centered around her going through a transformation that Dave Filoni compared to Gandalf. lord of the rings. Ahsoka begins the season dressed in gray and struggling as Sabine’s teacher, and after her death in episode 4, Ahsoka is reborn and dons a white robe, symbolizing her personal evolution and finding some degree of inner peace. That was the core of “Ahsoka the White” as a story, her personal development and the white clothes were something. star wars rebels We already covered this a few years ago.

The other half of Ahsoka’s personal story in season 1 is about understanding Anakin’s legacy and his transformation into Darth Vader. That’s all well and good, but it’s overshadowed by Anakin’s return as a Force ghost and Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin. That storyline is as much about Ahsoka grappling with her past and the Clone Wars as it is about Anakin returning to the light side and becoming a teacher again.

Compare these two stories with different characters. Ahsoka. Sabine was forced to reflect on her feelings of inadequacy as a Jedi, the trauma of the destruction of Mandalore and the death of her family, her search for Ezra, and her rivalry with Sin Hati. Ezra and Thrawn were both presumed dead before returning victorious, and now the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance. Baylan Skoll is seeking to find the god Mortis and break the cycle of imbalance in the Force. These characters all have big, important things to do, and Ahsoka is along for the ride.

Ahsoka Tano should receive more focus in Ahsoka season 2.

It’s a big problem that Ahsoka isn’t the main character of her own show. Ahsoka Season 2 needs to be fixed. Another season of Ahsoka wrestling with her past and becoming “Ahsoka the White” simply won’t end. Especially not after all the reveals in the trailer. Ahsoka Season 2. Between Thrawn attacking the New Republic and Baylan searching for the god Mortis, Ahsoka will need something much bigger to compete with them.

Ahsoka Season 2 should bring the show’s focus back to Ahsoka. Fortunately, there are some built-in ways to do this. She’ll be chasing Baylan and the Mortis gods this season, giving the series the best opportunity to explore what little she can remember about the Mortis arc. clone wars. That alone would be a great opportunity to explore Ahsoka’s past, grapple with Anakin’s darkness, and perhaps even reconsider her views on the cyclical nature of the Force.

Ahsoka Season 2 also promised more flashbacks to Ahsoka and Anakin fighting in the Clone Wars, which would be a great vehicle for her to unpack her trauma as a child soldier and work through the emotions surrounding those years. Additionally, we don’t yet know how the story will unfold, but it’s likely that Ahsoka will return as the main character. star wars Helps deal a decisive blow to Thrawn in some way, which Ahsoka Season 2.
