Ging Freecss is an excellent hunter, Hunter × Hunter There are absolute monsters of nature that make even the best of appearances ordinary. His talent for Nen is no joke, and the techniques are surprisingly easy to learn. But copying clever moves won’t do you much good against someone who can completely overwhelm him.
This is what makes comparing Ging to the strongest characters so interesting. He’s definitely talented, but he hasn’t shown enough in his own fights to outshine the series’ biggest threats. Some characters have already shown Ging feats with a lot to prove.
Ging Freecss is one of the smartest hunters in the world. Hunter × HunterBut Beyond Netero gives him some real competition. The son of Isaac Netero leads Kakin’s expedition to the Dark Continent, with Ging serving as his self-appointed second-in-command. That’s quite a position for someone who usually does things his own way.
Ging has an impressive reputation, but Beyond takes you on a journey to places where even the toughest hunters can meet their end. This is because Beyond’s experience poses a serious threat to him. He spent years preparing the Dark Continent and led expeditions into its deadly territory.
Being a great hunter is important, but leading people into some of the most dangerous places in the world takes courage. Beyond also inherited his father’s stubbornness and love of risk, and he chases challenges that would make most people run.
Zigg Zoldyck created a family of killers and surpassed them all
Zigg Zoldyck comes from a family where murder was literally business, and his generation helped build that fearsome reputation. As Killua’s ancestor, he belongs to the lineage that gave birth to Silva and Zeno. Ging may be an accomplished hunter, but Zigg grew up around assassins who treated killing as a skill rather than a last resort. This is a background that gives him a serious advantage in battle.
His claim becomes even stronger because his journey to the Dark Continent with Isaac Netero was no ordinary Hunter mission. The Dark Continent is filled with dangers that would make even skilled hunters think twice, but Zigg ventures there with one of the most powerful warriors in the series.
Zigg also brings years of assassination experience to his fight. He knows how to find and attack his opponent’s weaknesses before they can react. Ging can outsmart many opponents, but dealing with someone with Zigg’s background would be a very different story.

Prime Netero turns prayers into the fastest fists on Earth.
Isaac Netero turned his daily training into a habit that would make most athletes quit before breakfast. He threw 10,000 gratitude punches a day, eventually creating 100 Kinds of Guanyin Bodhisattva, a Nen ability that unleashes attacks at the speed of prayer. Netero has spent decades pushing his body and Nen to their limits, and in his prime, the difference could render Ging’s usual tricks useless.
Even in his old age, Netero gave Meruem a fight that few others could handle. His Bodhisattva attacked so quickly that the Chimera Ant King had to study his movements to find an opening. Prime Netero would have higher health and stamina, making these attacks more difficult to deal with. Ging’s talent is impressive, but guessing the King of Chimera Ants is a completely different matter.
As the president of the Hunter Association, he had the power to back up his authority and never relied on his position. Netero’s speed, experience, and overwhelming offensive power make him a safer bet in straight fights.
Adult Gon burns his future to surpass Ging
Gon Freecss has spent years trying to find Ging, but his adult transformation has given him powers that make the search almost comical. After taking the desperate Nen Oath, Gon grew into a towering warrior who crushed Neferpitou without giving the Royal Guard a chance. Ging is an accomplished Nen user, but Adult Gon unleashes a raw power that makes even his father’s known feats seem tame.
Neferpitou’s reaction speaks volumes as the Royal Guard senses Gon’s aura and realizes how dangerous he has become. Gon landed on a devastating Jajanken Rock that left Pitou unable to fight back.
Of course, Gon paid a terrible price for that power, sacrificing his future Nen potential in a moment of grief for Kite. Ging didn’t have to make such a desperate deal, but that doesn’t change what Gon achieved in his prime. For a brief moment, Gon reached a level of power his father never displayed.
Don Freecss explored the Dark Continent centuries before Ging.
Ging Freecss built his reputation chasing mysteries, but Don Freecss was exploring the Dark Continent centuries before him. His journey has spawned a book about the places where he has defeated countless hunters, and even Ging is following in his footsteps. This means Don is so far ahead that even his descendants, one of the best hunters in the world, are still trying to catch up.
Don’s greatest strength is his experience with the Dark Continent, a place filled with threats that make ordinary Hunter missions seem like a walk in the park. While Ging possesses incredible Nen skills, Don’s accomplishments suggest a level of experience he cannot match.
Meruem makes Ging’s hunter resume look small.
Although Meruem was only a few months old, she made humanity’s strongest warriors appear completely overpowering. The Chimera Ant King ate Nen users, became stronger through absorption, and possessed an aura that most hunters could not match.
Ging has spent years mastering Nen and exploring the world, but Meruem is practically built to win fights, so putting them together in one room puts Ging in a very serious problem. Isaac Netero learned the hard way, taking thousands of blows from the 100 Guanyin Bodhisattvas, but Meruem kept dodging, adapting, and moving forward until he eventually found an opening.
Netero was one of humanity’s greatest warriors, and even he could not defeat Meruem through sheer strength, or even do more than scratch him. What makes Meruem more frightening is how quickly he learns, studies his opponents, discovers patterns, and adjusts his strategy during combat.
Nanika grants Ging a wish that not even he can match.
Ging is famous for his Nen skills, but Nanika follows rules that make even talented hunters look ordinary. Nanika, who lives in Alluka Zoldyck, can grant wishes with much greater effect than what Ging has shown. The scary part is that this isn’t about throwing stronger punches or having more aura. Because Nanika can do things that Nen experts can’t even imagine.
After Gon’s transformation left his body in ruins, Nanika healed him and brought him back from the brink, repairing damage that couldn’t be repaired with normal treatments. Ging, no matter how clever and skilled he is, has never shown any Nen skills that could achieve anything close to that.
