If you’re curious Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Has the maker’s stamp of approval, Clive Barker His answer couldn’t have been much clearer.
“I’m really proud of the end result.”
Speaking exclusively with Dread Central to celebrate the game’s release, Barker said he was surprised to see how far the developers were able to push their world of pain, pleasure, and transgression.
“The guys at Boss Team Games were kind enough to ask me,” explains Barker. “I was passionate about this and was amazed by the quality of the content. The quality and challenge of the game is incredible.”
What is his biggest concern? Some of that rebellion may not survive.
“I was afraid the game would be overly censored, but I was really surprised at how far they were able to push it,” he continued. “I think for my beloved audience. Hellraiser And the horror video game is going to be a knockout.”
Now that I’ve finished it, I think it’s exactly like that. recovery work. It’s a fantastic old-fashioned horror experience that lets you wander through Barker’s mythology without feeling like someone’s erased everything that makes you uncomfortable. Sex, decadence, bizarre images – it’s all part of the movie. Hellraiser. You have to face it.

and Doug Bradley I’m back because Pinhead makes the experience even better.
“Doug is Pinhead and Pinhead is Doug,” Barker said. “They occupy the same space. He’s doing a great job and I wouldn’t want to see someone else play that role.”
Barker’s affection for Bradley goes back much further than the puzzle box.
“I’ve known Doug since I was 14. He’s been my best friend for most of my life. We worked in theater together seven or eight years ago. Hellraiser“He recalled.
“Doug was always great. We had no money, but we learned from each other how to be artists. We taught each other. We didn’t go to drama school.”
Barker spoke volumes about what he put into the production. Hellraiser It came from that experience. I wonder how much of an impact his time working with actors had on the performances he would later see behind the camera. He understood the process because he learned along with it.
His assessment of Bradley’s range goes beyond horror.
“He plays the role with great gravitas and in another universe he could have been James Bond,” Barker said. “The combination of malice and charm is really great. I’m really excited to have him in the game.”
Pinhead ended up becoming the face of Daum. HellraiserHowever, he started out as one of several Cenobites. When I asked Barker about that evolution, he went back to the restraint that made Bradley’s performance so effective.
“When I first started filming HellraiserI gave him the same instructions over and over again. Do less. He rolled his eyes, but he understood.”
Pinhead doesn’t have to run around the room or compete with the bizarre images that surround him. Bradley is able to make his lines sound menacing without raising his voice.
Barker said, “I gave him some lines and other actors might have messed them up, but Doug didn’t.” “You have to go back to the early British actors to find someone who could do this like Doug.”
“He plays the character in a very cool, detached way. That’s what makes Pinhead and the Cenobites so scary.”
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Christian McKnight gave the game 4 out of 5 In Dread Central’s review, they wrote: “I really had a great time… Hellraiser.”
