Now Silca Luisa (shining girls) Prime Video Binding blade runner 2099 takes the story further 50 years and brings together Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), an older replicant, and Cora (Hunter Schafer), a replicant disguised as a human, to search for missing replicants and face new existential questions. What if replicants had always meant more than just ‘more human than human’? We know this is a huge question. And there’s a great new trailer below that asks that question.
A pseudo-red light district in LA after the replicant uprising, selling human experience to machines? check! An android with a thick accent claiming a replicant destiny to become a god? check! Industrial synths, an apocalyptic blue and orange aesthetic, and the incomprehensible Schafer and Yeoh reluctantly team up to hunt down fugitive replicants while A) being on the LAPD’s lam and B) receiving monologues from some sort of Roy Batty 2.0 Tom Burke? Triple check! This is so blade runner In fact, we’re sure androids dream of this instead of electric sheep. Do you know what amniotic fluid, the ‘replicant cure’, and all the threads hanging here entail? no way. But neither Yeoh’s Olwen nor Schafer’s Cora are 100% certain in this trailer, so I’m glad they live in ambiguity for now anyway.
