strength
hermit’s The biggest strengths are the score and sound design. Haunted house stories live and die by the atmosphere they create, and much of that atmosphere comes from what you hear. In this department, the work of Wenrui Zhao and Henry Chaisson does not go unnoticed. He becomes a character in his own right because he does the heavy lifting in the film. It’s constantly filled. hide away While it holds fear and impending doom, it also offers beautiful moments of peace. with the same movie Outwaters and bass, We also focus on sound design. hide away It stands tall between Colleagues.
The film is also primarily directed by Toby Poser (hellbender, mother of flies), This is the actress who played the role of housekeeper Lydia. She is very devoted to Lawrence (Berkeley), he was and still is. Poser delivers a beautiful, haunting performance about what it means to be blindly loyal to someone’s art, and perhaps even more than that. Kimball Farley (Queen of Death, God) He also delivers a powerful performance as Lydia’s son Todd. Todd really comes alive when: hide away It starts to shift gears to more of a mystery thriller.
low point
Unfortunately, hide away There are some low points. The slightest offender is Sasha Frolova’s mediocre performance as Joan. Unfortunately, when she appeared on screen with Poser, she stood out like a sore thumb. The cinematography was also a mixed bag. There were some beautiful scenes, but at times it got very dark and you could barely see things.
Pacing was a big issue for me too. I love a good slow-paced scene, but I think they relied on the sound design and score to convey long, drawn-out scenes that could have been shorter. But speed issues aside, what I want most is writing. Most of the movie is a beautiful haunted house ghost story, but at the end it suddenly switches to a mystery thriller and family drama. This tonal shift completely ruined the viewing experience and without going into spoilers, there was a twist for shock value that felt completely unnecessary.
The sound design and score were truly gorgeous, and the highlight was hide away, With powerful performance. Ultimately, hide away The uneven tone and writing made it a just okay movie. But you know what? As long as it’s okay, it’s okay.
